Sunny days at first… Then the storm came. This is what it looks like south of here where my dad is (the last stop before I start sorting through this new life). I’m sticking around because…why leave now?? This is what it will look like in the next few days. I’m still the black dot.

Arriving in The South. It feels like home
My Virginia roots sprout new and vague feelings and recollections shift into familiar focus. After 30 years in The West, I’m back in The South. Charm, hospitality, friendly hellos and humidity. I love the moisture in the air. I know, I know…in the summer, I’ll swelter. But I will be happier in flip flops and
Franklin and Murfreesboro, TN and walk in the woods
Skedaddled out of the city to find a quieter place to wait out the election shenanigans. I stopped in Franklin, TN for a walk around and lunch. I intended on a big salad but had the meatloaf because it was “the best thing on the menu” and I LOVE meatloaf! Cajun corn cakes are heavenly.
Nashville, Tennessee
I would love to come back to Nashville with friends and stay a few days. The music filled the air even though the combo of COVID and Monday made it pretty quiet. I bet it really rocks. This was on my walk back to my hotel. The downtown area is packed with bars and music
Driving the midwest. Andrew Jackson’s Home. No, it’s not boring
The drive was beautiful. I went through Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky before I got to Tennessee. It happened so fast, I didn’t even know I was IN Illinois! On my way out, I went past St. Louis. Maybe one day, I’ll get over to the Arch. I started the day north of Nashville at Andrew
Missouri Wine Tasting
It was a beautiful Fall day. Riding the back roads of Missouri. The wines were really good. Different varietals.ChardonelSeyval BlancNorton (like a Cab)They had an Ice Wine for $30! Our server said they’d never sell any if they priced it like those folks in Upstate New York ($100)! For you California wine snobs…you’d do JUST
East of The Rockies and things are beautifully different here
After coming through the flat part of Kansas, the world just opened up to the beauty of the midwest. I got to Sullivan, Missouri and had a great time meeting Danielle’s family and some swans, ducks and kittens. I got to shoot my gun. And we blew up some stuff. When the day was done,
Heavenly hiccups, adventures in Kansas
Headed out of Englewood onto the infamous Highway 70. It lived up to its reputation. The plan was to stop in Junction City, Kansas on a quick overnight to my next stop. I wanted to stop in Abilene, KS but my sight-seeing destination (Eisenhower’s birthplace and museum) was shut for COVID. So I was just
The Road North to Englewood, Colorado
The day started and ended well. The weather in the south was nice, but as I moved northeast, it got more sketchy. I had a chance to go due-north, but thought better to ask. A guy at True Value suggested a route with better maintained roads. Ya don’t have to tell me twice. Good thing
Durango, Cascade Creek and Silverton
Went out in Durango last night and had a decent meal and listened to some live music. The guy was funny. Colorado has draconian mask laws which are only an outward symptom of the insanity. It’s just as bad, if not worse, than California. If for no other reason than that people don’t question it.
