Franklin and Murfreesboro, TN and walk in the woods

Skedaddled out of the city to find a quieter place to wait out the election shenanigans. I stopped in Franklin, TN for a walk around and lunch. I intended on a big salad but had the meatloaf because it was “the best thing on the menu” and I LOVE meatloaf!

Cajun corn cakes are heavenly.

Franklin home.

?….

Onward to Murfreesboro. I got a pretty good deal on a room that had great reviews. “Clean” is the word I seek and so far, I’ve faired well with Trip Advisor reviews.

I’m a little weird about lighting so I brought Christmas tree lights on the road. It’s a really nice hack for providing esthetic comfort. Sometimes, I just bunch them together like this. Later, I strung them on those pictures.

I went out for a bite to eat. There’s a dish in TN called Nashville Hot Chicken. It’s basically fried chicken made hot as hell. Also a “white BBQ sauce”. What? It’s a horseradish sweet sauce. Oh my. It was really good.

This place had an odd beer dispenser. There’s a magnet on the bottom of this glass that locks into the tap. The beer fills from the bottom.

I watched the election on Steve Crowder, Newsmax.tv and some live blogs before going to bed kinda late. Fox News is dead to me. What a buncha HACKS. CNN did a better job with raw data. But I didn’t entertain the MSM for more than a few minutes.

Wednesday AM, I woke to the mess and decided to just bail out and have a walk in the woods.

Rock Island State Park

I know this is odd with my hand in the shot but the sun….

Three filters, like three seasons.

The ride home.

Thank you God for the solace of nature. The crunch of leaves underfoot, the sound of crickets, birds and rushing water, the green, gold, red and brown, the smell of leaves in decay, the feeling of winter coming and the excited anticipation that I’m beach-bound. Amen.

One more stop for a night in the Smokey Mountains and then my west-to-east, coast-to-coast adventure turns south.

  1. I work on an all-remote team. I have a co-worker who is a native of Franklin and recently moved to Murfreesboro. Lovely area! Keep safe and keep looking up! I agree. It is time for a walk in the woods! I’ll take that advice and do so soon. I used to hunt a lot and peace in the woods was the MAIN draw for me. After living overseas, I lost the desire to hunt. Maybe I’ll get back out there. 🙂

The woods are so thick. I forgot. California forests don’t have that density. I love it. Enjoy the hunt. Make some jerky and send it to me!
