Went out in Durango last night and had a decent meal and listened to some live music. The guy was funny.
Colorado has draconian mask laws which are only an outward symptom of the insanity. It’s just as bad, if not worse, than California. If for no other reason than that people don’t question it. It’s ludicrous. This guy wore his mask under his chin for his entire dinner. He was actually stroking is beard with is mask on. It’s gross.
The Strater Hotel in Durango is like a museum! So cool. Beautiful architecture and items from the past. The fire door is metal. I imagine that would get very hot. Too bad there were no phones in the booths. My mom would have appreciated that little sewing machine.
WORK IS THE CURSE OF THE DRINKING CLASS. ?
Cascade Creek and Silverton
Man, I thought the Sierra Nevada was pretty. Whew. Colorado is BREATHTAKING.
Took a train ride today. From just north of Durango to Cascade Creek. The scenery was…well…look at it.
It was cool but not too bad. The sun was blazing.
The train chugged along on a perfect fall day.
After the train ride, I took a drive north to Silverton.
The little town of Silverton. Unfortunately, it was pretty depressed. It looks like it took quite a hit in COVID.
These mountains are all over 13,500 ft.
Tomorrow, I’m off to Englewood, CO to see a friend I haven’t laid eyes on since we were young ICU nurses at UC Davis Med Center in the the 90’s. That was before she got married. Her kids are out of college and starting lives of their own. I am so excited to see her. I hear the drive to Englewood is beautiful, so more photos to come.
Thank you God, for Your beautiful, stunning, gorgeous world. Thank you for the little sparrow, the big mountains and the sun that comes up every day. Thank you for good health, a warm bed, clean water and access to healthy food anywhere in this fine country.
Amen.
I’m so glad you stayed at the Strater. That’s where I always stay in Durango.
